Experimental Researches in Electricity, First Series
1832
The first series of Faraday's Experimental Researches in Electricity, from 1831. He reports that pushing a magnet into a coil of wire swings a galvanometer needle one way, and pulling it out swings it the other. With a copper disk spinning between magnet poles he kept the needle steadily deflected. He calls this induction and uses it to explain Arago's spinning-magnet effect.
