A Treatise of the Scurvy, in Three Parts
1753
Lind's 1753 treatise on scurvy. He compares groups who breathed the same air but ate different food, from fleets at sea to soldiers in Hungary, and gathers reports of sailors recovering when fresh vegetables replaced salt meat. He argues that scurvy comes from a poor diet, not from the air.
